Real Estate Agent Rehab
While doing my morning reading of the ActiveRain blogs the other day someone mentioned how many of us were awake a 4am working away. Like most things I run across at that hour it got me thinking. Thinking about what an addiction my real estate career is. After all Wikipedia describes an addiction as a persistent behavioral pattern marked by physical and/or psychological dependency that causes significant disruption and negatively impacts the quality of life of an organism. That explains all the family events I miss for showings and why while most sane people are sound asleep, I am checking my emails one last time. It was supposed to be a career that being the boss I could chose my hours and spend more time with my family. By the way...where is my family? Did they go on vacation without me again because I refuse to leave my laptop and cell phone at home? I guess that could be considered significant disruption and maybe had negatively impacted my quality of life but I really do love my job. I may have to check myself into real estate rehab just long enough to break the addiction, but it can't take too long because I really need to get back to work. Wonder if they allow cell phones?

Here I am up at 3:00 am typing a response to your blog. I get up in the middle of the night and spend a couple of hours of peace and quiet to catch up and then head back to bed for some zzzzz's. So maybe you need to start a group for us called the "Mid Morning Bloggers" or write a blog just on this topic. We can make it a team effort. Best wishes, and I am about ready to turn in again.
Randy, there used to be a group of us regular night owls on the rain....There was a time when you could see who was on. "it was a very sellect group":)))with that I am signing off.
I am up at 4am and sometimes 3am due to age and hormones and so when I am up I check my Realty Generator etc. as I think it is good to take this time and be productive.
I do think that this job can become addictive and you can lose your balance in life and become obcessed. So I do a self check every once in a while to see just where I am. I ask questions like is it baseball season or football. Is it fishing season or hunting. What was the last birthday of my children. How old is the coffee in this cup. How long has this mouse been in my hand etc. etc.
It's a great job with lots of freedom to construct time to meet your needs but it truly can become addictive.
