Homebuyer Tax Credits not the motivator we hoped?
Ok it's the end of February and I am still waiting for the rush to my door by would be buyers looking to score the tax incentives but not seeing the line formed anywhere near my building. Seems I over estimated the punch power of getting up to $8K back for buying the house they were going to buy anyways. In all fairness most people are probably holding off until end of March so we can bottleneck but this time we just have to be under contract not closed. Even the sales I have had this year have not sounded like the tax incentives were the deal maker or breaker. I am an optimist so I will continue to watch for the crowd but in the mean time I think I will just do some old fashioned advertising and working week ends to get where I need to be. Have a great day.

Hi Randy - I have seen a lot of First Time Home buyers since the beginning of the year. It seems to be working here in my market. The $6500.00 move up credit doesn't seem to be affecting this market but the first time home buyer credit sure has. I hope you are covered up in March.
It's not a fix all solution but it is certainly better than nothing. I think it has helped the Sarasota market.
Randy, I saw a bit of a rush when the first credit was about to expire ... so maybe it's about to happen again?
