Saturday June 12, 2010 is the date for the 5th annual Catch-A-Fish, Grant-A-Wish Fishing Tournament at Hemlock Park in Big Rapids, MI
This fishing tournament is another area "To Do" here in Big Rapids. The tournament is held during the DNR's Free Fishing Weekend, so no licenses are required! Bring your own pole & tackle and get set for a day of great outdoor fun! The first 50 registered participants will receive FREE tournament t-shirts and fishing bait. Starts at 9am and runs until noon. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Pre-registered anglers are $8 each and those registering the day of the event will be $10 each. All proceeds will be going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. For more information on how to sign up call 231-796-7640
Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each of the following categories: 0-6 Yr's, 7-11 Yr's., 12-17 Yr's., and 18 + Yr's. Fishing packets will be available by 8AM at the Hemlock Pavilion. First official casts will start at 9AM and the final casts will be at 12PM. Prizes will be awarded after all entries have been tallied.
While you are there take an extra hour or so and walk North on Riverwalk to the North End Riverside Park. One of Big Rapids nicest parks and the Riverwalk itself is always a huge hit with people who just enjoy being outdoors. It's about 2 miles to the park and once you get there you will find volley ball courts, pavilions, picnic areas, playground for kids. Make a day of it and have fun, it's a great time for an even greater cause. See you there.
