Blue Cow Cafe
Next in our series of blogs on Big Rapids, MI we visit one of my favorite places to eat in the entire area. Downtown Big Rapids is the location for one of the best dining experiences available in the entire State of Michigan. From the minute you walk in the door you can feel the ambience that makes you feel like you have been there a thousand times. You can sit in by the fireplace or if it is warm enough you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. They serve French cuisine but if you have an appetite I always recommend the rib eye which is hands down my favorite dinner EVER! My wife bounces around the menu each visit with the exception that every Sunday we stop for brunch and my wife gets the Stuffed Bananas Foster. Yes, it is a mild addiction but she assures me it is low fat food. lol. Chuck and Connie Freiberg have done a wonderful job creating what I think is the perfect dining experience.
Besides their fantastic menu they also have an impressive wine list. Here is a link to check it out: Blue Cow Wine List . There is a wine for every occasion and at competitive prices. They also brew their own beer and have four styles to choose from. They offer a Cream Ale, Strong Ale, IPA and a Bourbon Stout, all made right here. If you are into FaceBook become a fan and they send you emails on the specials and upcoming events like Wasabi Night where you will love their Sushi or Sashimi.
Besides fine eating and a great wine list they have a cozy bar area and a spot to have a cup of coffee or latte. I have yet to find anything about the Blue Cow Cafe I don't like. Everyone there has such great personalities and it starts with Chuck and Connie. While Connie is the Chef, Chuck can usually be found mingling with the diners stopping by and thanking everyone for stopping in. If you haven't tried the Blue Cow yet I urge you to give them a try.
